For some, fall means back-to-school, for others, it means beautiful foliage and sweater weather, but for us couch potatoes, fall means one thing – new shows! While old favorites return, we also get a brand new crop of shows vying for a coveted spot on our DVR. After scouring the tapes, here is a definitive list of this fall’s must-see new shows.
The Event – NBC – Mondays at 9/8c
What if there was a secret so big that even the President of the

A remake of the classic series, CBS’ revamped Hawaii Five-O stars Aussie actor Alex O'Loughlin as Detective Steve McGarrett, a decorated U.S. Navy lieutenant who returns home to investigate the murder of his father. Upon his return, he is asked by the governor to head up a new elite federalized task force. The show will take on the tone of similar one-hour procedural cop dramas, but will utilize the natural beauty of
No Ordinary Family – ABC – Tuesdays at 8/7c
Fighting with The Event for Lost’s crown will be ABC’s No Ordinary Family. Created by Greg Berlanti, this one-hour sci-fi drama centers around the Powells, an average American family who after their plane crashes into the Amazon River, develop special powers. The cast is a who’s who of television favorites including Michael Chiklis (The Shield), Stephen Collins (7th Heaven), Julie Benz (Dexter), Romany Malco (Weeds), Autumn Reeser (The OC) and Tate Donovan (Damages).
Running Wilde – Fox – Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30c
While it seems the Arrested Development movie is on an infinite delay, AD fans can get their fix with Fox’s new half-hour comedy series Running Wilde. Created by the dream team of Mitch Hurwitz, Jim Vallely and Will Arnett, the show follows a hapless, but well-intentioned heir (Arnett) as he tries to buy the love of his childhood crush, played to perfection by Keri Russell. Gob Bluth and Felicity may seem like an unlikely coupling at first, but the chemistry and the comedy are strong with these two. Look for Running Wilde to be this fall’s breakout comedy.
Undercovers – NBC – Wednesdays at 8/7c
When most couples are looking to get the much-needed spark back into their relationship, they take a vacation or go to couple’s counseling; not so for the Blooms – these former spies decide to rejoin the CIA. Played by the ultra-charismatic Boris Kodjoe and Brit import Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Steven and Samantha must learn to maneuver between their ho-hum day jobs and their secret lives as government spies. Expect tons of action – and quite a bit of chemistry from the lead actors – when Undercovers premiers this fall.
