3 March Car Facts aimed at keeping your MPG high.

Keep tires properly inflated.

One of the easiest ways is keeping your tires properly inflated at the recommended PSI listed in your owner’s manual. You can improve your gas mileage by up to 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.3 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer.

What’s the big deal with changing the air filter?

Simply put, EVERYTHING! At its most basic level, an engine is an air pump.  More air entering the engine increases the efficiency of the combustion process creating more horsepower and torque. The more efficiently these processes work the better gas mileage you will get.

Why should I clean my fuel injectors?

Fuel injectors get clogged or restricted by a buildup of fuel varnish deposits. This reduces the amount of fuel that the injector sprays, which in turn may cause the engine to run lean and misfire, hesitate or stall. All the while causing your fuel efficiency to decline and leading to more frequent trips to the pumps.
