For more than 78 years, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been the heartbeat of the Southwest, beating powerfully with nearly 24,000 volunteers who annually contribute their time, resources, and talent as part of the world's largest livestock exhibition, world's richest regular-season rodeo, and the Southwest's premier entertainment event. Since the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was established, it has made an impressive footprint on the livestock and entertainment industries and in the sport of rodeo. It also has played a notable role in enhancing the lives of thousands of young people in the state of Texas.

The effects of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ are felt world-wide through the agriculture industry, education and more. Since its beginning in 1932, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has committed more than $265 million to scholarships, research, endowments, calf scramble participants, junior show exhibitors, the Rodeo Institute for Teacher Excellence™, School Art participants, and other educational and youth programs. Of that total, the Show has committed more than $152 million in direct educational program support, since the first scholarship was awarded in 1957. It also encourage and promote the breeding, raising and marketing of better livestock and farm products at public fairs and to promote and maintain research and educational functions within the livestock industry.

In addition to the action-packed rodeo, there is the calf scramble, chuck wagon races, the heart-warming mutton bustin' and superstar concerts. After you're done with all of the rodeo action, head over to the 100.3 KILT Carnival and experience the extreme roller coaster rides as well as the Kids Country Carnival for the little ones. You can also enjoy all the best carnival foods, including caramel apples, funnel cakes and cotton all in the same place.
