Vehicle Profile: 2012 Jaguar XF Supercharged

Updated for the 2012 model year, the distinctive Jaguar XF Supercharged continues to translate the design language of the original C-XF concept car, adopting the bold Jaguar design language also seen on the XJ flagship vehicle. It is an evolutionary revision that continues to make the XF a standout from its competition. The XF Supercharged model adds luxurious enhancements and innovative features delivering elegance and sophistication along with the performance you would expect from a Jaguar vehicle.
 
The XF Supercharged (MSRP $68,100*) features a 470 hp, 5.0L AJ-V8 engine compared to the naturally aspirated V8 found on the XF and XF Portfolio models. “The XF has rightly been recognized as a quintessential Jaguar sedan,” says Ian Callum [confirm you have permission for use of his name and quote], Design Director, Jaguar Cars. “It is purposeful yet elegant, with inherent sporting intent in its design. For the latest version we have been able to evolve and enhance that performance character.” The XF Supercharged comes standard with a Jaguar High Performance Braking System and Adaptive Dynamics which improves handling through suspension settings by analyzing chassis movement, driver input and wheel motions up to 500 times per second.
 
Design and performance upgrades featured on the XF Supercharged begin with 20-inch Draco Silver 10-spoke alloy wheels, with 20-inch Draco Dark Gray with Diamond turned rims available as well. New for 2012, sleeker Xenon headlamps incorporate 24 LEDs  positioned to emphasize the shape of the headlamps, creating a distinctive “J-Blade” [what does this mean?] daytime signature light.
 
Inside, the XF Supercharged offers standard 16-way driver and 12-way passenger power front seats. In the cold days of winter all  XF owners enjoy the comfort of three-stage heated front seats, but stepping up to the XF Supercharged adds a heated, three spoke leather steering wheel plus three-stage active ventilated cooled seats for the sweltering days of summer. XF Supercharged seats are upholstered in soft-grain perforated leather, with door panels and an instrument panel stitched and tailored in soft-grain leather upholstery with contrast stitching  for an even more bespoke appearance. The XF Supercharged offers the option of three veneers: Standard is Knurled Aluminum with Rich Oak with Piano Black and Carbon Fiber also available. And for further personalization, a Jet Suedecloth headlining is also available with charcoal trims.
 
While the V8 growl of the engine is part of the enjoyment of driving a Jaguar car, a premium audio system offering is also important. The XF Supercharged is fitted with a Jaguar 600W Premium Sound System, with 11 speakers including a subwoofer. A 30 GB hard drive for music storage and 7- inch color touch screen for the Navigation system is also standard plus Media Hub with iPod, USB and Bluetooth.
 
While most Jaguar drivers would rather have fun driving on a twisting mountain road unperturbed by other cars, the reality is that Jaguar drivers experience traffic like everyone else. The XF Supercharged adds a Blind Spot Monitor which alerts the driver that another vehicle is in their blind spot area. If fitted to the vehicle, the Adaptive Cruise Control with both Forward alert and Advanced Emergency Brake Assist can further help Jaguar drivers by alerting them to stopped traffic but also by applying full braking force in an emergency situation.
