Vehicle Profile: The 2012 Camry Lineup

As the best-selling car in America for nine years running, the Camry has earned it a spot as one of the most important cars of all time. For 2012, the seventh-generation Camry makes its debut. The all-new Camry boasts a sophisticated and handsome design with a more spacious interior, a quieter cabin and improved driving characteristics. Add in class-leading fuel economy, safety and technology, and the new Camry is easily the best Camry ever.

The new Camry is available in Camry and Camry Hybrid models. The Camry is available in L, LE, SE and XLE trim levels; the Camry Hybrid is available in LE and XLE trims.

The Camry L (MSRP $21,955) comes equipped with impressive safety features, refinement and quality, all hallmark characteristics of the Camry family line. Standard equipment includes BLU Logic® hands-free system, which uses Bluetooth to allow voice control of your cell phone, an iPod® compatible stereo and 16-inch wheels. The Camry L is powered by Toyota’s revised 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine is equipped with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and delivers 178 hp and 170 lb/ft of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Camry LE brings many additional features like the all-new Display Audio system with a 6.1-inch touch-screen. The LE also includes keyless entry, steering wheel-mounted controls for the audio and the availability of a moonroof.

The sporty Camry SE upgrades the visual appeal of the Camry with 17-inch alloy wheels and an integrated body kit. Sport-tuned suspension and steering systems improve driving dynamics while the leather-wrapped steering wheel and the unique Softex-trimmed seats enhance driving comfort. While the SE comes standard with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, there is an available 3.5-liter V6. This engine produces 268 hp and 248 lb/ft of torque. V6-equipped SE trims get upsized 18-inch alloy wheels and unique body styling, as well as navigation and Entune™, Toyota’s innovative new multimedia system, for the Display Audio system.

For the ultimate Camry experience, the XLE comes standard with added comfort and convenience features like dual-zone auto climate control with rear vents, wood-style interior trim and an eight-way power driver’s seat. The exterior of the XLE includes heated mirrors, chrome trim and a power tilt/slide moonroof. Choose the optional V6 and your Camry XLE will come standard with leather-trimmed seats with heaters for the driver and front passenger. The Camry XLE with the V6 comes standard with the same navigation and Entune systems as the V6 SE, and adds a back-up camera and Smart Key system as standard.

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine returns an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city/35 mpg highway. With the available V6, the Camry delivers 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, making it the most fuel-efficient V6-powered midsize sedan.

The Camry Hybrid is able to reach an EPA-estimated 43 mpg in city driving. The all-new Camry Hybrid is equipped with a significantly revised version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain. The revised system uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in place of the last generation’s 2.4-liter unit. With the system’s unique transaxle, the 2.5-liter engine and a small, high-torque electric motor combine to produce 200 hp. To increase fuel economy further, the new hybrid engine has an electric water pump and variable-output oil pump to reduce internal friction.

The Camry Hybrid LE comes equipped with many amenities of the Standard LE, and includes some extras like a Smart Key System with push button start. The more luxurious Camry Hybrid XLE comes with the same eight-way power-adjustable seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel as the gasoline powered XLE.

Regardless of your choice of Camry, Toyota’s Star Safety System™ and Toyota Care complimentary maintenance plan come standard. The Star Safety System includes occupant protection features like an Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control. Toyota Care covers the costs of all standard factory-scheduled maintenance and provides 24-hour roadside assistance for the first two years or 25,000 miles you own your new Toyota.
