Holman Collision Can Help

It happens every day, and many of us have experienced it ourselves. A car accident can be a serious matter, but thankfully, the majority of automobile accidents involve only minor vehicle damage and no personal injuries. As cars get safer, that becomes more and more true.
 
 
 
 
If you find yourself in a fender-bender situation, our Collision Center offers the following guidelines:
 
 
 
 
  • Stop your vehicle if it is clear, safe, and legal.
  • Make sure your engine is turned off.
  • Make a first aid check of all persons involved in the accident.
  • Get help – call 911 and, if necessary, emergency medical services.
  • Protect the scene of the accident with flares or reflective triangles.
  • Identify the others involved. It is important to get the driver’s name, address, registered owner’s name, vehicle identification number, license plate number, insurance company, and policy number of the vehicle involved.
  • See if anyone witnessed the accident. Make sure you have police get the statements from the witness.
  • Don’t debate the accident. Don’t discuss the circumstances or responsibility with others involved or anyone except the police or representatives of your insurance company.
  • Limit yourself to statements of fact only, and statements to the police only.
  • Be sure you get all the information detailed on the accident report. These details are important and too easily forgotten.
  • Do not sign any statements or reports except those required by law.
  • If after business hours, find out where your vehicle is being towed.
  • During business hours, you can have your vehicle towed directly to our facility. You can call us directly to set that up at 1-800-710-8558.
  • Get a copy of the police report of the accident from the local police department.
