Customer Spotlight
Nedbank An Early Adopter of EasyAsk for Operational BI
South Africa’s fourth-largest bank has implemented Progress® EasyAsk® to enable operational business intelligence users to easily access results without burdening analysts.
Nedbank was an early adopter of EasyAsk for Operational BI, the industry’s first data retrieval solution designed for use by all business users. The bank first piloted EasyAsk in a handful of applications and then rolled it out into production. Nedbank's 60-employee Business Intelligence Solutions Department looks after a 40-terabyte data warehouse, and it regularly spins out data mart applications with Web-based GUIs that enable business users to run stored queries for data exploration.
Nedbank began using EasyAsk for two applications. In the first application, Nedbank ran EasyAsk against a 20 GB customer database so that bank users could explore customer profiles, spending patterns, and other information used in marketing campaigns. In a second project, Nedbank developed a simple query application needed by its Mortgage Department. Without any formal training on the product, developers simply followed the installation procedures to customize the query dictionary and created and store the desired queries, and the project was completed within one day. Read the case study for more information.

Industry Updates
IHD Leverages BI Investments with EasyAsk
"The healthcare industry undergoes constant change and shifting influence, largely due to an increase in regulations," said Ian Bezuidenhout, Information Systems Operations Manager for IHD. "The people using EasyAsk have been excited to see the type of information they can quickly get from the system. They can ask the system how many days to stock expiry, for example. Before using EasyAsk, business users had to rely on developers to write a report, run it, and deliver the results to them. They could get standard reports that listed the stock expiry dates, but they would have to filter the reports. Now EasyAsk delivers the results that they're looking for immediately."
