Smart companies today recognize that to be more successful they must have a workforce that is reflective of their target market. With the changing demographics in recent years, efforts are ongoing to broaden each slate of applicants for a position to include women and minorities. It is very important that this be done while giving every candidate, regardless of race, sex or ethnicity an equal opportunity to compete for a position.

Diversity has not reached all levels of the modern corporation however. According to Census 2000, only 14% of all professionals in the market are diverse. This creates something of a challenge for most companies. Achieving diversity at the entry level is not that difficult. There are plenty of candidates. In the mid management and executive ranks however, where most of the strategic decisions are made for a company, there are relatively few individuals adding cultural competency to the decision making process.

As employers strive to create a workforce and business plans that answer the needs of a demanding and changing marketplace, they also need to be respectful of cultural differences in that market and adjust their plans accordingly. That means having professionals in place that can help them achieve those goals.

The competition for these individuals is fierce and only those companies that have recruiters who are highly skilled in identifying, sourcing and recruiting top diverse talent are winning this battle.

The stakes are high. For many, the inability to attract these individuals over time will cost their companies market share, government contracts and for some, the business itself.

DRI Recruiters are trained on how to successfully identify, source and recruit both active and passive diverse professional candidates. They can help companies level the playing field by broadening the pool of candidates to include diverse professionals. DRI has a national network of diversity talent and a full range of services for forward-thinking organizations that see the value in tapping into this pool of talent.
