Conoco-Phillips faces mild scrutiny from industry, investors, regulators

Conoco Inc. Chairman and CEO Archie Dunham with Phillips Petroleum President and CEO James Mulva HOUSTON, Texas and BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. will now wait on the Federal Trade Commission to determine whether the companies’ plans to form the third largest integrated U.S. energy company will come to fruition. As announced yesterday, Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. have signed a definitive agreement to combine the companies, forming ConocoPhillips, which will be the third-largest integrated U.S. energy company based on market capitalization, the largest U.S. refiner and the fifth-largest global refiner.

OSHA Issues Metalworking Guide
Under development nearly four years

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) last week released its 89-page health and safety guide for metalworking fluids (MWFs). “Metalworking Fluids: Safety and Health Best Practices Manual” had been under development by OSHA for nearly four years, and it draws upon recommendations from the Agency’s MWFs Standards Advisory Committee (SAC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) Criteria Document on Occupational Exposures to Metalworking Fluids, and the Organization Resource Counselors’ (ORC) “Management of the Metal Removal Fluid Environment: A Guide to the Safe and Efficient Use of Metal Removal Fluids.”
