Donald Schregardus, who had been nominated by President Bush to serve as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, has been appointed a member of the Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee (CAAAC).

Schregardus withdrew his nomination after it became apparent that overwhelming opposition from Senate Democrats would cause any vote to fail. CAAAC advises the EPA on air policy. Schregardus previously served as director of the Ohio EPA.
