RESTON, Va. – The Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America announced it has formed strategic alliances with 3T (Transaction Tracking Technologies) and Caliber Consulting.
With the 3T Deal, SIGMA will provide its 265 member companies with a money-order processing system at exclusive discount pricing. Caliber Consulting will also provide management consulting services in the area of improving operational process efficiency through more effective use of technology and personnel at a special price to SIGMA members.
SIGMA executive vice president Kenneth Doyle announced the agreement with William Heim, president of Nashville-based 3T at its Winter Management Meeting in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
“Originally, money-order processing was outsourced to third-party vendors, but their pricing always limited the profit stream,” said Doyle. “The real opportunity for money-order profit is the float and abandoned property – both of which the third-party vendors kept for themselves.
Many SIGMA members expressed interest in an in-house system that would permit them to control the entire profit stream, Doyle explained. “Some of our members were already getting excellent results with the 3T system. For us, that was the deciding factor.”
3T’s software-based Total Solution issues, tracks and reconciles all types of secure documents, including money orders, vendor payments, remote payroll, and gift certificates. The system also incorporates security features to prevent fraud.
The Caliber Consulting alliance provides SIGMA members the services of Ken Gunn a well-known industry consultant and speaker. Gunn and his company provide these services through two programs, an intensive hands on, actionable “PetroStrategies Assessment” or a new lighter version “PetroStrategies Snapshot” that identifies problems. Both assist individual companies in de-bottlenecking their systems from better utilization of existing technology and personnel, or identifying new technology that could be utilized.
