AMSTERDAM -- Harry Roels, managing director of Royal Dutch Petroleum Co. and group managing director of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group announced plans to step down June 30.
The move is the latest in a string of management changes in the group. Phil Watts took over as group chairman last year following the retirement of Sir Mark Moody Stuart, and Jeroen van der Veer took the helm at the Royal Dutch Petroleum arm after Maarten Van den Bergh resigned in February 2000. Roels, who has been with the Royal Dutch/Shell group for almost 30 years, resigned for personal reasons the company said in a statement.
A Royal Dutch Petroleum spokesman said the company had not decided whether to fill Roels's position.
Royal Dutch Petroleum owns 60 percent of Royal Dutch/Shell Group, with the rest held by British-based Shell Transport and Trading Plc.
