Grocer adding gas at Missouri location

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Hypermarket competition will heat up in Columbia, Mo., next fall when grocery retailer Hy-Vee, which opened its first store there in August, will begin construction on a gasoline station at that location, says a report in the Columbia Daily Tribune. The project is scheduled to be completed in the autumn of 2002.

The new facility will include a 10-pump station and a convenience store that will sell snack and beverage items, says the report.

The West Des Moines, Iowa-based supermarket chain manages eight gasoline stations, with pay at the pump capability, at retail locations throughout the Midwest.
