ILMA joined health and safety professionals at the Organization Resource Counselors (ORC) sponsored workshop that presented “10 Steps to becoming an ‘Expert’ in OSHA Recordkeeping.”
Bill Ament, a 15-year Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) veteran, one of the leading spokespersons on recordkeeping, and a senior consultant with ORC for over 20 years, began the workshop with an overview of basic principles under the current rule that will carry forward to the new rule. Steve Newell -— a consultant at ORC since 1998 and a leading expert and author of the BLS/OSHA “Bluebook” and past Director of OSHA’s Office of Statistics and Bureau of Labor Statistics -- walked attendees line by line through the new OSHA recordkeeping rule, including significant changes and ways they could best be implemented.
The workshop provided a checklist to take home and information on train-the-trainer. Additionally, a pretest was given with a proceeding discussion session to serve as a self-evaluation tool on what and where the new rules apply. ORC has permitted the use of all copyrighted recordkeeping materials by those who participated in one of the ORC recordkeeping training sessions.
