9News Leader of the Year Award Luncheon
Foundation Focus
In partnership with the Denver Metro Chamber Foundation and the Colorado Leadership Alliance, the 9NEWS Leader of the Year Award presented by TIAACREF, recognizes an emerging leader who has made a lasting contribution to the well being of the community and to the state. It is an investment in the potential of extraordinary individuals who, in the early stages of their careers, demonstrate character and competence through their behavior and accomplishments.
Past recipients include: Monica Pleiman, a DMCF and DMCC Board Member; Rob Cohen, a DMCF Leadership Circle Member; and Annette Quintana, a DMCC Board Member. The award will be presented on April 4, 2006 at the 9News Leader of the Year luncheon, which takes place in the Seawall Grand Ballroom from 12 – 1:30 p.m. at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

Gay & Lesbian Fund Donated $3.1 Million in 2005
Donations supported Colorado nonprofits, as well as hurricane relief
The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado announced that it distributed more than $2.1 million in grants to Colorado non-profit organizations last year. The philanthropy group’s donations helped diverse programs that promote arts and culture, civic leadership initiatives, healthy families and public broadcasting. The fund donated an additional $1 million in 2005 to support Hurricane Katrina relief.

Centura Health Aids Hospital in Peru
Trip part of an ongoing international mission by Centura
A team of associates from Centura Health recently returned home to Denver from a mission trip in Iquitos, Peru. The team of 18, which included associates from Centura Health, Boulder Community Hospital and the Boulder Medical Center, performed 23 surgeries at Clinica Adventista Ana Stahl and provided health care for more than 500 people living in remote villages along the Amazon River.
