Imaging Groups ask CMS to Reconsider the Scan Limitation During Initial Treatment Strategy Evaluation
According to the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), "seven medical imaging groups wrote a joint letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to formally request that CMS reconsider its current coverage policy for 18F-FDG PET scans used during initial treatment strategy evaluation. Currently, CMS covers only one FDG PET study during initial treatment strategy evaluation, a limitation that the groups believe is contrary to good clinical practice under certain circumstances."

Court Ruling May Force Philip Morris to Reimburse Chest CT
According to an article in HealthImaging.com, "the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court unanimously ruled Monday that cigarette maker Philip Morris should pay for chest CT scans, in order for smokers to detect the early development of lung cancer".

Growth Rate of Imaging Services Usage Slower since DRA Approval
According to a recent article posted in AuntMinnie.com,"Procedure volume for a range of advanced imaging services has grown at a slower rate in the wake of the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of 2005 than before the law was passed, and has even declined for some modalities, according to a study released on October 14 by the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC) of Washington, DC".
