Debating the sustainability of PET
"Is there life after PET?"
Flattening market conditions, the effects of the DRA on the PET market, and emerging new technology have sparked a discussion regarding the sustainability of PET and PET/CT. While some would argue that PET is nearing the end of its life cycle, industry experts like Scott Welpe, CNMT maintain that PET has established its niche in the industry and will not be replaced by emerging SPECT/CT technology. Improvements in the affordability of PET and PET/CT and the ability to accurately stage and treat patients enable PET to withstand market conditions and suggest not only does PET's well established history of tumor imaging support continued acceptance, but continued growth in Radiation Oncology and Cardiology secure PET's future for more broad utilization.

National Cancer Survivor's Day
National Cancer Survivors Day® is an annual, worldwide Celebration of Life that is held in hundreds of communities throughout the United States, Canada, and other participating countries. Participants unite in a symbolic event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality.
In most areas, National Cancer Survivors Day is traditionally observed on the first Sunday in June, although this is not always possible due to scheduling conflicts and time differences. Celebrating its 21st year in 2008, NCSD is the world’s largest and fastest-growing annual cancer survivor event.
