LONDON -- Royal Dutch Shell Plc said it planned even deeper cuts to its oil refining and retail operations after downstream weakness caused a 75% fall in fourth-quarter profits to $1.18 billion, according to a Reuters report. CEO Peter Voser pledged $1 billion in cost cuts and 1,000 job reductions in 2010—mainly to come from the downstream unit—and upped his target for refinery divestments.

PHOENIX -- As CSP Information Group wrapped up its Convenience Retailing University conference this past week in Phoenix, three retailers went home with recognition of their retail operations, another three attendees walked away with cash prizes for their personal talents, and one supplier was named the winner of the inaugural CRU 2010 Innovation Gallery.
