Acquiring 100% rights to the Gulf brand opens the door for major growth
By Linda Abu-Shalback Zid
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- "The world is our oyster," Rick Dery, Gulf Oil's senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer, told CSP Daily News in announcing the company's plan to execute a significant geographic brand expansion. "I say the world, but it's at least the continental U.S. and its territories. We aren't going to put any limitations on it."
Effective Tuesday, Gulf Oil, a whole owned subsidiary of Cumberland Farms, acquired all rights, title and interest to the Gulf gasoline brand in the United States. Specific details of the deal are not being released, but Gulf Oil can now expand its brand throughout the United States for the first time since it first acquired certain rights to the brand in 1986.
