DePinto Undercover
7-Eleven president & CEO part of new CBS reality series
DALLAS -- 7-Eleven president and CEO Joe DePinto is among the participants in a new CBS reality series that follows high-level executives as they slip anonymously into the rank and file of their companies. Undercover Boss will debut following the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7, 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on CBS.
The story about DePinto going undercover, reported in CSP Daily News in late October before details of the TV series were revealed, was one of the top-10 most-read stories of 2009.

C-store chains make list of largest U.S., Canadian food retailers, wholesalers
NEW YORK -- The 75 largest food retailers and wholesalers in the United States and Canada combined to produce $893.08 billion in revenues in 2008, up 7.6% over their total in the preceding year, according to a report by Supermarket News. 7-Eleven and Wawa, the only pure-play convenience retailers to make the list, charted at, ironically, No. 11 and No. 27, respectively.

Refinery Chill?
New York Times: Industry in crisis as gasoline demand down sharply
NEW YORK -- Only a few years ago, the word was that the United States needed more oil refineries, said The New York Times. President George W. Bush even offered disused military bases as sites for building them. Now the reverse is now happening, the report said. The business of oil refining is mired in a deep crisis, with five refineries having shut down this year, including plants in Delaware, New Jersey, California and New Mexico.
