West Virginia retailers seeking new suppliers after Chevron pullout

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- About 90 retailers that sell Chevron gasoline will have until July 2010 to find a new fuel supplier, said The Charleston Gazette. Last week, Chevron announced it was pulling its name from about 1,100 gas stations in West Virginia and a dozen other Eastern states.

NACS launches online interchange petition campaign, supplements in-store petitions

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) is launching a campaign, Fightswipefees.com, on December 15 to generate millions of consumer signatures from convenience store customers and encouraging Congress to reform unfair credit and debit card interchange (or "swipe") fees. More than 10,000 convenience stores are gearing up to collect consumer petitions in their stores. The group went live with the online component of the campaign yesterday.

New spending will include tax cuts, loan fee cuts; more highway spending

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama outlined new multibillion-dollar stimulus and jobs proposals Tuesday, saying the nation must continue to "spend our way out of this recession" until more Americans are back at work, said the Associated Press. Without giving a price tag, Obama proposed a package of new spending for highway, bridge and other infrastructure projects, deeper tax breaks for small businesses and tax incentives to encourage people to make their homes more energy efficient.
