Tedeschi Bets on Blockbuster
Details: New England chain installing DVD kiosks in every store by year end

ROCKLAND, Mass. -- In a total marriage of convenience that readies the chain for the future, Tedeschi Food Shops has introduced NCR's Blockbuster Express-branded DVD-rental kiosks into most of its stores. The rollout saw placement of more than 100 kiosks in the company's 189 stores. By the end of the year, each Tedeschi Food Shop will be equipped with an NCR machine.
"It makes sense," Joe Hamza of Tedeschi told CSP Daily News. "Customers look for convenience when they come to us. Making entertainment convenient is the ultimate marriage. We're seeing a void in the market where the traditional movie-rental brick-and-mortars are disappearing. We're seeing a demand for this type of product."

Retail Pushback
Visa delays PIN pad fine threat to 2012, retail technology website says
PURCHASE, N.Y. -- After some serious retail pushback—particularly in the gas station sector—Visa has relented and agreed to back off an earlier deadline PIN pad compliance deadline for July 1, 2010, reported retail technology and e-commerce website StorefrontBacktalk.com. The new policy is not threatening fines until August 1, 2012, it said.

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek Food Stores Inc., a privately owned, family-operated chain of 120 fresh food convenience store locations throughout New Jersey and southern New York, has announced the grand opening celebration of its newest location in Ramsey, N.J., where it will offer customers free coffee and will offer children under 5 feet tall free fountain drinks during the store's first 13 days in business, October 27 to November 8.
