Swiss Farms outlines franchising details, plans for growth

BROOMALL, Pa. -- Now that Swiss Farms has its first franchising agreement under its belt, it is boosting its franchising drive into turbo with several other multi-unit and single-unit franchisees expected to close by the end of the year.

This is the first time Swiss Farms has offered franchising in its 41-year history, with John Betz & Associates Inc. having signed on to open three Swiss Farms stores in the next three years, as reported in CSP Daily News last week.

Twenty-five smaller bidders to split 68 sites in Pennsylvania, New York

STATE COLLEGE, PA. -- The 25 buyers of individual or small groups of former Uni-Marts LLC assets have until November 30 to close on their purchases or the 68 sites will be turned over to the largest purchaser and stalking-horse bidder Kwik Pik, according to court documents.

Luke Oil logo looks too much like religious dietary symbol, orthodox group says

HAMMOND, Ind. -- Luke Oil's new logo was supposed to symbolize a commitment to customer service, but a company executive admits the gas station chain may have inadvertently replicated a logo stamped on products judged kosher under Biblical law, reported NWI.com. A day after an Orthodox Jewish group filed a trademark infringement suit in Hammond, Ind., federal court, Luke Oil vice president Tom Collins Jr. said Thursday the Luke logo will be changed.
