L.E. Belcher to Market Irving Brand
Deal covers Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, parts of Vermont
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Irving Oil has granted Springfield, Mass.-based L.E. Belcher Inc. the right to distribute and market the Irving brand, including gasoline and diesel fuel, at retail locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and several Vermont counties, as part of a newly formed agreement.
“Our approach to making the Irving brand available in southern New England is through a qualified distribution network,” said Jim Morgan, an operations manager for Irving. “L.E. Belcher has a proven record as a quality fuels distributor in these markets for over 70 years. The company has been satisfying customers’ energy needs in New England with a commitment to quality and we look forward to building on our relationship through this new initiative.”

Repeal Doesn't Appeal to Many Retailers
Wisconsin mulls doing away with minimum markup law
MADISON, Wis. -- Two Wisconsin lawmakers on Monday announced they will try to do something high retail gasoline prices. They want to allow gas stations to sell gas at cheaper prices, even if it means undercutting smaller stations and putting them out of business, reported the Journal Times.
To make this happen, the state would need to repeal its minimum markup law that regulates gasoline prices, said the report. The act would allow more competition, but owners of small stations oppose the proposal because it would favor larger stations and hypermarkets such as Wal-Mart that could charge less and makeup the difference by selling more.
