PumpStart Stops Gas Theft
QuikTrip program designed to eliminate driveoffs

WICHITA, Kansas -- After losing $1 million during a 12-month period from customers who did not pay for gasoline at Wichita, Kansas-area QuikTrip stores, company officials are implementing a new payment system March 11, reported the Wichita Business Journal.

The system, called PumpStart, allows customers to fill up their vehicles after providing the company with their driver's license, which is then copied into the company's computer system, said the report.

Sheetz unveils second Convenience Restaurant

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Sheetz Inc. has unveiled its second Convenience Restaurant, a hybrid concept that combines quick-casual dining with a convenience store. The new unit, located in Raleigh, N.C., will officially open its doors to the public today.

The Convenience Restaurant concept was developed from customer feedback received when Steve Sheetz, chairman of the family-owned chain, issued a public challenge in 2002 to “help put Sheetz out of business.” After intensive research and input from Sheetz employees and customers systemwide, the Convenience Restaurant concept was created.
