CSAC Celebrates April as National County Government Month

CSAC is celebrating National County Government Month next week, April 19 – 23. Each day, CSAC will be tweeting, blogging and posting FaceBook information on a different county service area.
 
On April 22, CSAC will be receiving a joint resolution from the State Legislature marking April as National County Government Month. Valerie Brown, Sonoma County supervisor and National Association of Counties (NACo) president, will be on hand for the special presentation, along with CSAC President Tony Oliveira, Kings County supervisor.

Coming Soon! Hearing on Municipal Bankruptcy Moved Up
The Senate Local Government Committee has rescheduled its hearing to April 19 upon adjournment of Senate floor session. AB 155 will be heard then and CSAC and our local government partners are gearing up for what promises to be an interesting hearing.

This week, both the Senate and Assembly budget subcommittees with jurisdiction over corrections and judiciary issues considered a range of items brought jointly by CSAC and the Judicial Council.

AB 1821, by Assembly Member Fiona Ma, is sponsored by the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and will merge the first and second levels of the CalPERS 1959 Survivor Benefit Program (Program) into the third level of the Program.
