We shared an exciting and adventure-filled month with 57 high school students attending our High School Field School and High School Archaeology Camp. The students contributed greatly to our work at the Dillard site and discovered some intriguing artifacts along the way!

Annas Clark and granddaughter Jaclyn. Longtime Crow Canyon friend Annas Clark and her granddaughter Jaclyn took an epic cross-country journey this summer. Along the way, they made one important stop at Crow Canyon, where Jaclyn enjoyed the week-long Middle School Archaeology Camp.

Deborah Gangloff Responds to Recent Layoffs of Archaeological Staff

An ancient structure in Slickhorn Canyon in Utah. Crow Canyon President and CEO Deborah Gangloff recently responded to the termination of three senior staff members in the Antiquities Section of the Division of Utah State History. Read her letter to Utah Governor Gary Herbert.

Santa Fe Institute President Dr. Jeremy Sabloff to Present Keynote Address

The lodge at Crow Canyon's campus. Members of Crow Canyon's Chairman's Council are invited to attend this year's annual meeting, which will feature keynote speaker Dr. Jeremy (Jerry) Sabloff, president of the Santa Fe Institute. Celebrate the Life of Audrey Coleman

Audrey Coleman. Nicole Sager invites friends of Audrey Coleman to a celebration of Audrey's life at 2:00 p.m. on October 16, 2011. The gathering will be held at the Kennebec Café in Hesperus, Colorado (located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 160 and Road 124, approximately 30 miles east of Cortez, Colorado). Fumi Arakawa to Pursue Career in Academia
Crow Canyon Wishes Him Well in New Endeavor

Fumi Arakawa. Fumi Arakawa, Crow Canyon’s lithic technology analyst, is leaving his post at the Center to pursue a career in academia—as assistant professor in the department of anthropology at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. Fumi has been a valued member of Crow Canyon’s research staff since 2008, lending his extensive lithics-analysis expertise to staff members, associates, and the thousands of students who have crossed his path in the Crow Canyon lab. The Crow Canyon staff wishes him well in his new endeavor!
