Time Team America Update
Dr. Alex Jones Visits Crow Canyon to Plan for Field School
Dr. Alex Jones with Oregon Public Broadcasting visited us March 20–24 to scout for the field school that will take place during filming of a Time Team America episode at Crow Canyon's current excavation site—the Dillard site. The field school will run June 3–9, and the Time Team America episode will be filmed June 4–7.
We enjoyed meeting Alex and discussing plans for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) content planned for the field school.
What is Time Team America? Produced by Oregon Public Broadcasting, Time Team America is a popular science-archaeology series. This June, Time Team archaeologists will join Crow Canyon staff at the Dillard site to help answer questions about the Basketmaker III community that formed there more than 1,500 years ago. The show is scheduled to air in 2013. Time Team America travels across the nation to excavate ancient and historic areas. Using the latest technology and their own expertise, Time Team archaeologists are given 72 hours to uncover secrets of their assigned digs. The series first aired on PBS stations during the summer of 2009.
