Two New Officers Elected to Board of Trustees
Bruce Milne and Barbara Schwietert to Serve as Chair and Vice Chair

Two new officers were elected to Crow Canyon's Board of Trustees at this fall's annual meeting. Bruce Milne of Hartford, Wisconsin, was elected chair of the board, and Barbara Schwietert of Kildeer, Illinois, was elected vice chair.

Bruce Milne has been a Crow Canyon member since 1990 and was elected to the Board of Trustees in October 2000. He has served as the vice chair of the board since 2008 and as chair of the Investment Committee since 2006. He was also a member of Crow Canyon's presidential search committee in 2009

Bruce helped establish and fund the National Youth Education Scholarship Fund, an endowed fund to support scholarships for youth to participate in Crow Canyon programs and to boost educational expertise at the Center as needed. He was also the founder and director of Crow Canyon’s Project Outreach, which provided archaeology education programs to students in the greater Milwaukee area.

Bruce is the former president and CEO of Trump Company, a food brokerage firm in the Midwest. He also serves on the boards of Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin in Milwaukee and the Tyndale Seminary in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Barbara Schwietert also became a member of Crow Canyon in 1990 and was elected to the Board of Trustees in October 2003. She was a member of Crow Canyon’s presidential search committee in 2009 and is a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee. Barbara also chairs a work group of the ad hoc program revenue and marketing committee.

Barbara is a human resources consultant and trainer for corporations and not-for-profit organizations, and she regularly facilitates programs for the American Management Association. From 1988 through 1997, she served on the faculty of Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and also taught at De Paul University's School for New Learning master's program. From 1993 to 2001, Barbara was mayor of Kildeer, Illinois, and was on the Board of Trustees of the Lake County Municipal League. She represented Lake County mayors in the Chicago Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and served as chairman of the Rt. 53 Corridor Planning Council. She was also on the steering committee of the Foglia YMCA. Barbara received her MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.

Charles R. (Ron) Larimore stepped down from his role as chair of the board in October. The Crow Canyon staff and board thank Ron for his leadership and expertise during the time of financial challenges in 2008 and the transition to a new president and CEO in 2010. Ron will remain on the Board of Trustees and will serve as the chair of the Executive Committee.
