The IRA Charitable Rollover
A Great Alternative Way to Support Crow Canyon
The IRA charitable rollover has been extended through 2011 and is a great way to support the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. If you are 70½ or older, you are eligible to transfer money from your IRA to Crow Canyon without paying tax on the withdrawal. This vehicle is time sensitive, and this could be your last chance to take advantage of this opportunity.
Things to know about the IRA Charitable Rollover:
- Through December 31, 2011, you may transfer up to $100,000 per person from a traditional IRA to Crow Canyon without having to pay federal income tax on the IRA withdrawal.
- The charitable distribution counts toward minimum required distributions.
- The transfer does not generate taxable income or a tax deduction, so there is a benefit even if you do not itemize your tax returns.
Consult your CPA, estate attorney, or financial planner to see if this is a fit for you.
