Townships: A Plan for the Future in Salt Lake County

In 1996, the Utah State Legislature created “townships” to protect those not wanting to annex into an existing city or incorporate into a new municipality . Over the years, the long-term status of townships has been an ongoing debate at the State Legislature. During the 2008 Legislative Session, legislators again tackled the issue of townships, and passed SB73. Read more to learn about the major aspects of this bill.
