All-new just one year ago, the Jeep® Renegade, available here at Colonial Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Hudson in Hudson, Massachusetts, packs a huge amount of capability, utility and features into a small package. For 2016, the Renegade gets even better with additional technology and new exterior colors.
To say the 2016 Jeep® Renegade (MSRP from $17,995) offers a lot for a low price is something of an understatement. There are six trim levels––Sport, Latitude, 75th Anniversary Special Edition, Dawn of Justice Special Edition, Trailhawk® and Limited––two engine choices, two transmission choices, and best-in-class 4x4 capability from the available Jeep Active Drive and Jeep Active Drive Low four-wheel drive systems. New for 2016 are Jetset Blue Metallic Clear Coat and Granite Crystal Metallic paint colors, rain-sensing wipers (standard on Limited and Trailhawk) and a BeatsAudio® system.
The first engine choice is a 2.4-liter Tigershark® four-cylinder with MultiAir® 2 technology that produces 180 hp and 175 lb/ft of torque. The second is a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder good for 160 hp and 184 lb/ft of torque. The 2.4-liter is paired with a segment-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission, while the 1.4-liter offers an engaging six-speed manual. Both engines deliver an EPA-estimated 31 mpg highway.
For those who love off-roading, the Renegade Trailhawk® delivers best-in-class capability with the Jeep Selec-Terrain® system (with up to five settings) and a 20:1 crawl ratio. With the full-time Jeep Active Drive Low system, the Renegade Trailhawk® earns the Trail Rated® badge. Jeep Active Drive is also available, giving the Renegade two of the most advanced systems in its class. When properly equipped, the Renegade can even tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Designed in America and built in Italy, the Renegade is in a class by itself. It stands out with impressive standard and available features like a dual-panel My Sky® open-air roof, a capless fuel filler, foglamps, heated exterior mirrors, and a windshield wiper deicer. There are also a slew of accessories available – roof racks, bike hitches and much more – to match your active lifestyle.
The Renegade interior is designed to impress, and it succeeds; the Renegade Limited cabin made the Ward’s “10 Best Interiors” list for 2015. Rugged and refined, the Renegade offers the largest full-color instrument cluster in the segment; the award-winning Uconnect® infotainment system; leather seating; dual-zone climate control; heated front seats and steering wheel; the new 506-watt, nine-speaker BeatsAudio™ system; and ambient lighting, depending on the trim you select. Rear seat choices include a 60/40-split/folding bench and a 40/20/40-split/folding bench with cargo area pass-through that creates up to 50.8 cubic feet of cargo space.
Seventy standard or available safety features make the 2016 Renegade as safe as it is capable. In addition to the standard Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, and antilock brakes with Brake Assist, you can equip the Renegade with LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus and Forward Collision Warning-Plus, both segment-firsts. Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection and the ParkSense rear park assist system are all available, as well.
