Vehicle Profile: 2014 Ram Power Wagon
Capability both on- and off-road

Back in 1945, the Power Wagon was the first mass-production 4x4 pickup. Fast forward nearly 70 years, and Ram trucks continue to set the bar high with segment-exclusive and best-in-class features. For those who want maximum capability in their pickups, the Ram Power Wagon, on sale here at Colonial Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Hudson in Hudson, Massachusetts, is the model of choice.

A Ram truck is built to be among the best in the industry. From the 1500 EcoDiesel and its best-in-class fuel economy to the best-in-class 30,000-pound towing capacity of the Ram HD, Ram trucks are always leading the pack. The 2014 Ram Power Wagon starts with the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Crew Cab 4x4 configuration and features additional upgrades that focus on off-road capability, including locking differentials, a unique suspension with two additional inches of lift, and a 12,000-pound winch. Three trims–– Power Wagon Tradesman (MSRP $44,495), Power Wagon SLT (MSRP $49,145) and Power Wagon Laramie (MSRP $54,820)––make it easy to get the features and amenities you want.

“Capability is top of mind with heavy-duty pickup truck customers. Ram trucks are expected to work every day without breaking a sweat,” said Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Ram Truck brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The 2014 Ram Power Wagon fills a need for those who travel into extreme terrain for rescue or recreation, while delivering on-road civility and the towing capability expected from a heavy-duty truck.”

The Power Wagon is powered by s 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that produces a best-in-class 410 hp and 429 lb/ft, power that that leads to an impressive, 10,810-pound towing capacity and 1,490 payload capacity. Special oil jets for piston cooling, aircraft-grade stainless steel gaskets and fasteners, and a high-volume oil cooler are all standard as well.

For maximum off- (and on-) road capability, the Power Wagon features Bilstein shocks and a “Ram Articulink” front suspension that uses a sway-bar disconnect system and high-movement joints for added articulation and flexibility. A new five-link coil rear suspension delivers best-in-class ride and axle control, and the standard front and rear electronic locking differentials provide maximum traction. Some impressive numbers include 14.5 inches of ground clearance, 30 inches of water fording ability, a 34-degree approach angle, a 23.5-degree departure angle and a 25.5-degree breakover angle. The Power Wagon also features underbody skid plates to help protect the fuel tank and transfer case.

Outside, the Power Wagon is immediately recognizable by its “Power Wagon” graphics package, two-tone paint scheme, front and rear chrome bumpers, a chrome grille surround (with available colored insert), premium black 70mm headlamps, LED taillamps and roof-mounted clearance lamps, and 17-inch forged aluminum wheels with massive 33-inch LT All-Terrain tires. The 12,000-pound electric winch will be handy when you need to rescue less capable vehicles along the trails the Power Wagon handles with ease, and the five-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty provides added peace of mind.
