CFRE International sets international standards for philanthropy and relies on currently practicing fundraising professionals to find time in the midst of their busy daily lives to give back to their profession.
The CFRE credential would not be as strong without the on-going expertise, assistance and time from our valuable volunteers! We would like to extend a very heartfelt THANKS to those who recently participated in Item Writing Training in Tampa, FL and in Vancouver, BC.
These individuals have made a two-year commitment to serving as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). SMEs draft test questions to be pre-tested for use on future examinations. During the course to two days of intensive training, SMEs learn about test development and item writing specifics, as well as writing and referencing new draft questions for possible inclusion on future exams.

This group joins 35 other individuals currently serving as Subject Matter Experts. Topics covered in the training include elements of good test questions, the job analysis process and the most recent CFRE International results, identifying exam item topics and how to reference test questions.
All draft test questions go through an extensive review and editing process by a second group of volunteers before they are suitable for pre-testing on an actual exam. Pre-test questions do not affect a candidates score. Only questions that have been pre-tested that have suitable item performance statistics are permitted to be used as scored questions on an exam.
Additional training will be held in Alexandria, VA, Chicago, IL and San Francisco, CA later this year.
