Cerritos Nissan would like to welcome Joe Twyman to our team. Joe has been married for 42 years, has 4 grandchildren, with a great grandchild due in January.
Joe was born and raised in Kansas City, MO and attended Shawnee Mission North High School. While attending, he lettered 3 years in track and cross country and in 1961 was a member of the Cross Country Team that took home the State Championship.
After finishing high school, Joe continued dominating the cross country scene at Fort Hays Kansas State University. While taking advantage of his 4 year track and cross country scholarship, he reigned as a letterman for all 4 years. He took home two National Cross Country championships with his team in 1963 & 1965. Apart from conquering the track at the university, he also earned his B.S. in Physical Education and Recreation in 1967.
Later that year, he married his college sweetheart and shortly after joined the United States Marine Corps Officer's Candidate School. He was soon promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. Wanting to move on to his passion of physical education, he began his career in 1971 at the Y.M.C.A. in Kansas City, MO. Then in 1971, he began coaching at Milikan High School and led the team to victory winning the Moore League Championship. After fulfilling his career and love for sports & education, Joe decided to retire in 2002 with over 30 years at the Y.M.C.A.
Ready for some excitement, Joe started his new career at Moothart Chrysler/Lamar Hyundai and soon became Fleet Manager. After 4 years as Fleet Manager in 2004 – 2009, Joe moved on to join the team at Cerritos Nissan.
