Pre-Budget Update

Update on Pension Reform and Securities Regulation

There is a growing chorus of voices focusing on the impact that the current economic crisis is having on people today not just macro-economic imperatives.CARP has asked that any pension reform contain such protections and will say so again in response to the federal call for consultations on pension reform. Three major provincial reports have already been issued on pension reform saying much the same things but the federal government is asking the same questions again. Court denies reimbursement for out of country medical services

The Ontario Divisional court has ruled that the Minister of Health has no general discretion to reimburse Ontarians for urgent medical services received outside Canada if they did not get prior approval. The court allowed two of the three cases being appealed, citing extenuating circumstances which would have limited application to others. Read more.
