The Home Depot Canada announces national spring hiring blitz
Retailer encourages 50-plus applicants
The Home Depot Canada has kicked off its hiring season with plans to hire 7,000 new associates in time for its busiest sales period beginning in spring, and over 14,000 associates throughout the course of 2006. The Home Depot promotes its job opportunities in cooperation with CARP, and encourages 50-plus candidates to apply. “We’re fast approaching our busiest time of the year – spring and summer – so we’re looking for talented, enthusiastic individuals who want to become part of our team,” said Bernard Cormier, vice president, human resources for The Home Depot Canada. “Our associates are the key to our success. The Home Depot Canada offers a stimulating work environment where associates are encouraged to continually grow and learn, while making positive contributions both at work and in the communities we serve.” The Home Depot is currently conducting spring hiring events in every city across the country recruiting customer service-focused associates. The company is hiring for part-time, seasonal and full-time positions, such as sales associates, cashiers, specialty sales professionals (millwork, flooring, kitchens, décor and appliances), department supervisors and night operations. More details about positions at The Home Depot can be found in the career pages on www.homedepot.ca. “Product selection familiarity and know-how are important associate attributes that help us ensure each and every customer has a positive shopping experience,” said Cormier. “We also feel it’s important that our associate base reflects the diverse communities we serve. We celebrate and respect the different strengths and talents of our associates, as they provide our team with a greater ability to serve our customers well.” For consideration, those interested can apply for positions on the Web site (www.homedepot.ca) or through their local The Home Depot stores. Potential candidates will be invited to attend a Spring Hiring Event or an in-store interview. Dates, times and locations for local in-store or regional hiring events will be posted in local and community newspapers across Canada. Most 2006 job offers will be made across the country between February and June.
