Scandinavian Construction Industry Goes Green

Cabot Aerogel exhibited this year for the first time at Nordbygg, Stockholm International Fairs (the leading exhibition center in Scandinavia), on April 1-4, 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden. Local agent Franck Miltenburg of Miltyr assisted in bringing Nanogel® to Nordbygg, the largest Building and Construction conference in Scandinavia.

Exhibits at Nordbygg highlighted the latest trends in the quickly growing Swedish construction industry. Infrastructure investments of 20 billion euro/31.6 billion dollars, 20 new city districts and 80,000 homes will be realized in the coming years, shaping new demands for innovative materials and solutions and making Scandinavia the perfect arena for Nanogel aerogel. Architects and designers are looking to access more natural daylight, which is scarce in the region for much of the year, in their designs without the typical thermal losses associated to it. As it is in the US, energy saving has become the focus of interest in the Swedish construction and property markets; especially concerning how to lower energy consumption and heighten efficiency in both existing and new properties. These challenges demand not only new technical solutions but also new materials such as Nanogel, which meets all of these objectives without sacrificing design.
