Makrolon® Ambient Creates Rooms with a View
Bayer Sheet Europe, a leading global producer of polycarbonate and solid and multiwall polycarbonate sheets, and Cabot Aerogel have reached an agreement aimed at launching a new 25mm twinwall panel filled with Nanogel® aerogel. Bayer intends to position Makrolon® Ambient into the high end of the European Conservatory market, where double pane glass is gaining an increasing market share. This is a new, highly competitive market space where Nanogel has never been used before.
The Makrolon Ambient Sheet guarantees unique insulating and light diffusion properties, both in vertical and horizontal positions. The sheet also features a high level of light transmission, is unbreakable, anti-glare, has a long life and provides optimum sound insulation. It is the perfect solution for residential applications like conservatories, or sunrooms, where functionality, safety and comfort are key. The special design of the Ambient Sheet sets it completely apart from traditional polycarbonate sheets. The twinwall profile allows an easy and fast filling of aerogel particles. It also features an extra-thick outer layers, improving the sturdiness and impact resistance. By reducing heat loss and taking advantage of solar gains, the Ambient sheet also allows energy savings and CO2 emissions reductions. Improved thermal and acoustic insulation, reduced solar transmission and glare, excellent light diffusion, resistance to the growth of mildew and fungus and the permanence of its performance made Nanogel aerogel the obvious choice for Bayer to expand their Makrolon polycarbonate product portfolio.
