Advances in daylighting technology are changing the long-standing facts about fenestration, especially when it comes to insulation and light quality.

In July,
"The Construction Specifier" magazine examined new, high-technology daylighting materials, with emphasis on aerogels, the newest daylighting option. The article, “Balancing Light and Heat,” explains the aerogel material’s composition and explores the type of systems currently using this modern material.

Both architects and specifiers will be interested in learning how several architects used computer simulations to determine energy performance and test patterns of daylight penetration in order to specify aerogels in their buildings’ design.
