If your job requires a heavy-duty truck, the 2018 GMC Sierra HD delivers all the capability you’ll need. Both the three-quarter-ton GMC Sierra 2500HD and full-ton GMC Sierra 3500HD offer powerful performance, rugged exterior options and plenty of technological features to keep you connected on the job.
Performance and capability
The GMC Sierra HD’s standard engine is a 6.0-liter Vortec® V8 engine that puts out 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. You can also equip your Sierra HD with the available 6.6-liter Duramax® turbodiesel V8 engine that achieves 445 horsepower and a massive 910 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth shifting and optimized efficiency.
The 2500HD model can haul a maximum payload of 3,534 pounds, and it can tow up to 18,100 pounds with a diesel engine and a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch. The 3500HD can haul up to 7,153 pounds, and its maximum towing capability when outfitted with the diesel option and a fifth-wheel hitch is 23,300 pounds. Both models feature a standard automatic locking rear differential for added traction control when towing those enormous loads.
Depending on your needs, the GMC Sierra HD offers a variety of flexible body styles. It’s available in crew cab, double cab or regular cab configurations with either a standard or a long cargo box (both of which are made of durable, high-strength steel). The 3500HD model is also available with a dual rear wheel option for more towing capability.
To help you work more efficiently, the Sierra HD comes with recovery hooks, a standard CornerStep rear bumper and high-mounted movable tie-downs. Available features for the cargo box include a spray-on bedliner, a retractable assist step, LED lighting and a remote locking tailgate.
The GMC Sierra HD’s interior features an array of technology to keep you informed and entertained on the job. The standard 7-inch GMC Infotainment System plays through a six-speaker system, offering Bluetooth® streaming audio along with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. For reliable connectivity on the go, a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot provides high-speed internet for up to seven devices. There’s also a standard 3.5-inch Driver Information Center that helps you track your speed, fuel economy, tire pressure and other important vehicle information. The standard Rear Vision Camera helps you maintain visibility while backing up.
With the tough 2018 GMC Sierra HD, you’ll be well-equipped for the worksite. The Sierra HD’s brawny towing and hauling capability will help you handle the heaviest of loads, and its practical design and infotainment features will help you tackle any job with ease and comfort.
