A luxurious mid-size with serious value

The 2017 Buick Regal is a luxury mid-size sedan that’s priced more like a traditional mid-size while providing the amenities, safety and performance luxury buyers demand.

The 2017 Buick Regal starts at an MSRP of $27,065—over $10,000 less than the Lexus IS. Trim levels include Regal 1SV, Regal Sport Touring, Regal with All-Wheel Drive, Regal with Premium II Package and Regal GS. Front-wheel drive is comes standard, though you can also opt for all-wheel drive for improved traction and performance. The GS is enhanced with Brembo® front brakes, HiPer strut front suspension and three-mode Interactive Drive Control.

Motivating the Regal is an efficient 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Both engines use Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing and are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-liter engine earns up to 30 mpg on the highway along with its 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter brings output to 259 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque while still achieving up to 29 mpg on the highway. This engine also happens to be more powerful than the Lexus IS 250.

The Regal is sharp looking with a commanding presence thanks to its low and wide stance. Wheels range from 18- to 20-inches and the standard premium finished grille provides additional attitude. Depending on trim you can find Bi-Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlights with LED signature lighting and a power moonroof. The GS adds a unique exterior with trim specific front and rear fascia and rear spoiler.

The cabin of the Regal is one of the most refined and serene in the segment thanks to standard QuietTuning. Also standard is leather upholstery, the Buick IntelliLink® infotainment system with eight-inch color touch screen, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, an auto dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth® wireless connectivity, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control. All models get a full suite of OnStar® services including three months of the Guidance Plan, 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi® hotspot with three month of three GB trial and five-years of the Basic Plan. You can also add a heated steering wheel, Navigation system, remote start and a high-end Bose® audio system.

While the Regal is standard with a healthy dose of safety equipment, its available list of features is even more impressive. You can choose from two Driver Confidence Packages that bundle Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert and a Following Distance Indicator as well as Full Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Preparation with Collision Mitigation Braking. All Regal models include a slew of airbags, antilock brakes with Brake Assist, a rearview camera and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control that help the Regal earn a 5-Star Overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Edmunds added “The Regal will appeal to buyers who prioritize value, with its solid foundation of standard features and approachable cost of entry.”
