The GMC Sierra 1500 is a full-size pickup with the performance you need to get any job done, along with the technology, safety and design you’ve come to expect from GMC.
The 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 starts at an MSRP of $28,205. The new truck is available in Base, SLE, SLT and Denali models. Here are a few things to consider if you’re in the market for a new pickup.
The Sierra can be equipped as Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab with a 5’8” box, a 6’6” box or an 8’ box depending on model. Large grilles, available LED headlights with GMC Signature LED lighting and unique features like the CornerStep rear bumper and EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate help the Sierra forge a powerful yet thoughtful presence. Wheels range from 17 to 22 inches, and you can also choose from two new exterior colors: Pepperdust Metallic and Dark Slate Metallic.
Comfortable and Connected Interior
The cabin of the new Sierra 1500 is upscale with room for up to six people. The seats can be covered in supple leather upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats. The steering wheel can be heated as well. Special attention has been paid to keeping cabin noise to a minimum via features like Bose® Active Noise Cancellation System, triple door seals and aerodynamic exterior mirrors. Technology also plays a big role in the Sierra with the available GMC IntelliLink™ system with eight-inch touchscreen, Navigation and Android Auto™/Apple CarPlay™ compatibility. A three-month trial to OnStar® with 4G Wi-Fi hotspot is also included.
The Sierra boasts a 12,500 pound max trailering rating that’s best in the segment for crew cab models. Power comes from your choice of three engines: a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8 or a 6.2-liter V8. The 4.3-liter makes 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque, while the 5.3-liter brings output up to 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The 6.2-liter produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. All three engines employ Variable Valve Timing, Direct Injection and Active Fuel Management to make the most out of every drop of fuel. Four-wheel drive is available across the lineup. Finally, Duralife™ brake rotors give you double the service life from traditional rotors and are just another way the Sierra is a step up over the competition.
The Sierra 1500 earned a 5-Star Overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition to the standard StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control, Trailer Sway Control, six airbags and Hill Start Assist, the Sierra can be equipped with a rear vision camera and the Enhanced Driver Alert package. The Enhanced Driver Alert package includes Safety Alert Driver Seat, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist and, new for 2017, Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking. All Sierra 1500 models are also standard with the Teen Driver feature that lets you monitor vehicle activity even when you aren’t in the truck.
Kelley Blue Book says, “GMC stamps its own upscale brand on the Sierra, giving it the feel of a work truck for the boss rather than the crew.”
