Vehicle Profile: 2015 GMC Acadia family
An attractive alternative for up to eight

Recently updated with a bold, new design, the GMC Acadia, available here at Colonial Buick GMC in Watertown, Massachusetts, enters 2015 with more updates aimed at improving convenience, styling and comfort, and it does so with a family of trim levels that is sure to meet the needs of any buyer.

The 2015 GMC Acadia (MSRP from $33,975) starts off with numerous trims available with seven- or eight-passenger seating, ranging from the well-equipped SLE to the fully loaded Acadia Denali. In total, the 2015 GMC Acadia offers 10 build configurations depending on which of its five trim levels––SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2 or Denali––you choose and whether you opt for front-wheel drive or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. For 2015, the GMC Acadia adds a trio of new exterior paint colors (Crimson Red Tintcoat, Dark Sapphire Blue Metallic and Midnight Amethyst Metallic), a new 20-inch wheel design and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel that is standard on SLT-2 and Denali trims.

Regardless of trim, the 2015 GMC Acadia comes standard with Bluetooth hands-free phone, Smart Slide second-row seats, free scheduled maintenance coverage for two years or 24,000 miles (whichever comes first), fold-flat second- and third-row seats, rear park assist and a rear backup camera. The SLT brings leather seating, remote start, heated front seats, a power liftgate, three-zone automatic climate control, a 10-speaker Bose audio system and the easy-to-use GMC IntelliLink infotainment system. For 2015, the USB port has been relocated to the lower portion of the center stack for easier use. Choose the top-of-the-line Acadia Denali for heated and cooled front seats, a head-up display, a two-panel sunroof and, of course, the exclusive exterior styling that makes it one of most elegant and aggressive-looking crossovers on the market.

Setting it apart from other Acadia models, the Acadia Denali features a distinctive front fascia with added chrome, the signature Denali chrome mesh grille, HID headlamps, unique 20-inch wheels, a monochromatic paint job and a rear fascia with integrated dual exhaust outlets. Inside, the luxurious Denali comes with model-specific perforated leather, heated and cooled front seats, illuminated sill plates, real wood and aluminum trim, and a long list of convenience and driver assist features. An exclusive acoustic package gives the Acadia Denali one of the quietest cabins in the segment.

As safe as it is capable, the Acadia features a segment-first front center airbag. Mounted on the inboard portion of the driver’s seat, it deploys during a side-impact collision to create an additional barrier that prevents the driver and front passenger from making contact with each other during a crash. There are also roof-mounted head-curtain side-impact airbags that offer enhanced rollover protection and occupant containment for all three rows. Advanced driver assistance systems like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert and Cross Traffic Alert are standard or available, depending on trim.

All 2015 GMC Acadia crossovers are powered by a direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 that returns 281 hp and 266 lb/ft of torque (288 hp and 270 lb/ft in the Denali). The V6 is paired with a six-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission with automatic grade braking, and precise shift control. A standard hill-hold assist feature prevents roll-back on inclines. Front-wheel drive models return an EPA-estimate 24 mpg highway, while all-wheel drive versions are good for 23 mpg highway.

The powerful engine results in excellent acceleration and strong capability. The Acadia has class-leading maximum cargo space of 116.1 cubic feet, it can carry 48-inch wide sheet-good and it offers a 5,200-pound towing capacity when properly equipped.

"With better fuel economy than a truck-based SUV, three-row passenger utility and respectable towing prowess, the 2015 GMC Acadia is quite capable and appealing," said Edmunds.com editors. Consumer Guide reviewers called the Acadia “an impressive vehicle” and said, “Acadia’s rugged good looks are a nice match for its capabilities: smooth, strong, refined powertrain; composed, comfortable ride; attractive interior; and outstanding passenger and cargo accommodations.”

The 2015 GMC Acadia combination of capability, space, comfort and efficiency is unique in the segment. Stop in for more details and a test drive today.
