The other day I met a friend.  I happend to be filling up my gas tank at a local Flash Foods on College Street when I was greeted by a shy, but very hungry golden retriever.  He didn't look like he had been starving but you could tell he had been on the street for a while.  So, I took it upon myself to buy a can of dog food when I went in to pay.  Sure enough he was still by my car as if he knew he was going to get a little treat.  It took me a while to coax him over to an area that wasn't busy and I poured out the canned food for him to eat.  It took him all about 1 minute to gobble it all down and he let me pet him while he was doing so.  After he was finished, he picked up the can and started to walk away, but then he stopped.  He turned around and looked at me with an empty can in his mouth as if to say "thank you".  Well needless to say it broke my heart and I vowed to take him home if I saw him again, i figured my black lab puppy needed a buddy to play with anyway.  Unfortunatley Flash (the name i gave him because of the location where he was found) disappeared off into the sunset and we haven't been reunited yet.

 

We all know about the stray dog/cat population here in Macon, and a lot of the adoptable ones end up either at the pound or at Heart of GA Humane society.  As long as the animals personality gets along with the person adopting them, you're in for a very loving and long relationship of unconditional love.  Think about all those animals out in the cold this winter.  If you're thinking about adopting, try the Macon pound first.  I've had great results and am sure you will too!
