Every day, in every store, many sales opportunities walk right out the door. How many? There are typically uncounted, undocumented, and, well, completely unknown. “But my stores do fairly well”, you may insist. My transaction counts are high. High compared to what? Compared to what other stores have for transaction rates, or high (or low) compared to the number of customers browsing through your store?
You spend an enormous amount of resources getting people to your store – your store layout, window dressing, big SALE signs, name and brand recognition, door greeters, advertising, and of course picking and paying for the best locations. So why count transactions? Count people and calculate the conversion ratio, the number of transactions divided by the number of shoppers. Then you will have a far better understanding of your stores performance. Then you can implement appropriate action plans.
There are only two ways to increase retail sales. Drive more traffic to the store, or improve the performance of the traffic in your store. There are several ways to improve the performance of the traffic in your stores but you’ll only be guessing if improvements work unless you measure the traffic.
Brickstream has provided measurement tools for Store Layout and Design testing, as well as Front-line Service Management solutions for national retailers. Our customers have asked us to extend our measurement portfolio to include lower cost counting sensors. We have added proximity sensors and IR beams, in addition to cameras, to our Store Sales Conversion Improvement solution.
