The BMW ActiveE begins with an impressive start. Its synchronous motor develops full torque from a standstill to accelerate from 0–60 mph in under 9 seconds*. That’s an instantaneous 184 lb-ft of torque with up to 170 hp.Positioned directly on the rear axle, this electric motor has no clutch, or conventional gearbox. This enables it to deliver seamless, uninterrupted torque at all speeds. The unique position of the motor also accommodates newly developed lithium-ion batteries that facilitate a driving range of up to 100 miles on a full charge. 

• All-new four-cylinder engine. The new BMW 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine made its American debut in the Z4 sDrive28i, underlining its sporty credentials . Be prepared for 260 lb/ft of torque – Around 30 percent more than its six-cylinder  predecessor.

• Safety innovations. BMW is constantly improving safety features. Active Knee Protection, and Lane Departure Warning are just some of the features that are taking automotive safety to a whole new level. 

• i8. The i8 Concept  is a hybrid electric  vehicle that boasts zero-to-60 mph acceleration of less than five seconds. The i8 concept follows the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept recently featured in the Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, which made ​​it clear that an emotional sports car with the fuel economy of a compact car is no contradiction, but could soon be reality.
