It's that time of year...time to start thinking of vacations and summer road trips!  This news means that it's also time to do a visual inspection of your tires.  Winter driving and rough roads can have a huge impact on the condition of your tires.  A good practice is to do a walk around every few weeks and perform a visual inspection of your tires.  You should look for any uneven edge wear, sidewall cuts and bruises, and protrusions from the side wall, which is usually caused by hitting a nasty pothole--we've all done that!

 

Along with a visual inspection, take notice if your BMW shakes or if the steering favors left or right while driving at highway speeds.  These are signs of a car that needs a wheel balancing or a 4 Wheel Alignment.

BMW Technick GmbH was set up as a think tank specifically released from the obligation to create products for volume production.  Free from the constraints of everyday routine, it brings together some of BMW's best designers, engineers and technicians in realizing ideas and concepts for BMW vehicles of the future.  One of the first major projects of BMW Technik GmbH was the Z1 Roadster, which went into small-scale production in 1988.

 

In order to expand rapidly and gain a presence in market segments in which it had not previously been involved, BMW purchased the British-based Rover Group, with the active brands Rover, Land Rover, MINI and MG.  In addition to modernizing the plant, the task for the next few years was to rejuvinate the product lines.

After falling behind Mercedes-Benz in sales in January, BMW did not waste any time reclaiming its title of luxury-sales king.  Boasted by the debut of the all-new 2012 BMW 3 Series in February, the brand posted a 29.2-percent sales increase compared to the same month last year, racing past its long-time Bavarian competitor, Mercedes-Benz.

 

With 8,103 units rolling off of BMW dealership lots in the United States, the BMW 3 Series saw a 66.3-percent sales jump in February year-over-year.  Though the 2012 BMW 3 Series didn't go on sale until mid-February, combined 3 Series sales still topped the Mercedes-Benz C-Class by 2,863 units.  Elsewhere, Audi's total U.S.sales barely topped sales of the BMW 3 Series alone, with 8,531 Audi's sold last month.  Meanwhile, Japanese automaker, Lexus, tallied just 16,882 in sales, falling far short of the 21,204 units moved by BMW.
