Have you noticed the brightness of your headlights lately?  If your vehicle is over 3 years old, take a look at your headlamp lenses, they may be turning a yellow color with a cloudy, hazy finish -- caused by the affects of damaging UV rays.  Another condition that may exist is pitting, which is caused by the sand used on slippery roadways in winter.  These conditions will diminish the amount of light being emitted by the headlamp bulbs resulting in reduced visibility at night.
