When did you
start training with Blauer Tactical Systems? 2002
What prompted you
to seek out the course? To improve
upon our existing basic and in-service LE curriculum.
How many classes
have you been to?
3
What is your
favorite drill from the course and why? The Ballistic Micro Fights (BMF) and Live
Action Response Drills (LARD). The drills add realism to training
and build confidence.
Has your agency
adopted the system? Yes, I
have incorporated the S.P.E.A.R. System into the San Diego Sheriff's
Detentions and Court Services Academy, San Diego Regional Basic Law
Enforcement Academy and various in-service training courses.
Has it been used
in the field? If yes, please give example. We just
introduced the S.P.E.A.R. System to San Diego County over the last
year, so I am not aware of any uses yet. However, it has been very well
received and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I start hearing
about various uses.
Has the
counter-ambush research from the SPEAR course affected your training and
confidence?
Absolutely! It has not only impacted me, but also several deputies
and officers from throughout San Diego County.
Personal thoughts
or closing comments? As the
San Diego DT Core Instructor, the S.P.E.A.R. System has filled an
existing void in our curriculum and has truly served as a
"bridge" to our control tactics and/or various "police
solutions" (i.e. chemical agents, electronic devices, impact weapons,
handguns, etc.).
